Operation Wags: Flying for a Good Cause

I have been very open about some of the grievances I have had with the DCS community, about some of the negativity that I have seen and why I even distanced myself from the larger community as a whole. But lately, especially after a certain announcement, I have put most of those sentiments aside.
A face that means a lot to everyone in the DCS community has always been Matt Wagner. From his role as the Senior Producer for DCS World itself, his interactions with the community, his role as the voice of almost every tutorial for most Eagle Dynamic-produced modules; his presence has always been felt by everyone who has seen or played DCS over the past decade and even before. He has always been a volver part of the community and a tangible link between the developer and us, the players and pilots of this simulator.
Unfortunately, it seems as if the universe decided to throw this wonderful person a burden that I wouldn't wish on anyone: cancer. Especially, bone marrow cancer.
As a community, I would have expected only hopeful comments from content creators and forum dwellers, but what the larger DCS community did is something that sincerely brought a tear to my eye. Over a hundred content creators and companies have decided to join forces on what is the largest event in the history of this simulator: Operation Wags
With the goal of helping Wags and his family with the financial burden of dealing with such a horrible disease, Operation Wags aims to fund over 140 thousand dollars towards the cause. The event consists of two weekends of an open DCS server in which there will be two sides: Bluefor and Redfor. Bluefor is for everyone, every player that wishes to join and support the event. Redfor is full of content creators, module developers and familiar faces to everyone that plays DCS on a regular basis. So far, and as of the time of writing, the crowdfunding campaign is now 90% complete.
I have never seen such a large community driven effort towards a singular cause in DCS history, and I am extremely overwhelmed with happiness just from seeing a community, that I thought was more on the cynical side, set most of their differences aside for the greater good.
